Project Overview
Cummins Inc. was building a new employee heath care facility which incorporated many innovative approaches to caring for the employees well being. Due to the unfamiliarity of employees with the new center, Cummins needed a website that would introduce LiveWell to Cummins, and start to build trust as their preferred health care provider.
Research Goals
Working collaboratively with stakeholders, we were focused on three primary goals: 1) Define what the user's journey and intended experience would be in relation to the LiveWell website. 2) Identify key user goals for the site. 3) Generate potential site maps, and create ideas for homepage structure.
Approach
During our initial discovery session with stakeholders we used human-centered design research methods including brainstorming, storyboarding, and group sketching, while being sure to help them separate divergent and convergent modes of thinking, to achieve the identified goals. By the end of the first session, we helped them to identify key customer journey touchpoints (and the purpose of each), determine vital informational needs and actions to be fulfilled on the website, and generated site layouts that met those needs and actions in a way that made sense to them.
Outcomes
The research worked to not only inform the website design, but also helped the communications team to develop a comprehensive communication plan that helped build trust in the LiveWell Center before the doors even opened. As a result, the LiveWell Center was providing care at maximum client/patient capacity within the first month, requiring Cummins to accelerate their hiring schedule for new LiveWell staff members.
